Objectives

The main objective of community radio is not to do something for the community, it is rather to strengthen the community, that is, to give an opportunity to the community to do something for themselves, such as having control of their own media. Its purpose is to promote and improve the social and educational conditions and the quality of life of the community. It’s important to take into account that community participation and ownership are essential for the project to go forward and achieve sustainability.

Community Radios are not for profit but to provide a mechanism for facilitating individuals, groups and communities to tell their own diverse stories, to share experiences, and in a media rich world to become active creators and contributors of media.
